Department Overview:

UCP works with individuals with all kinds of developmental disabilities, such as autism, traumatic brain injuries, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, etc. Respite care allows family members or main caretakers to have the opportunity to go to work, do house chores, or take a break knowing that their child is having fun with a trusted individual.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

UCP Respite Providers are nonmedical caretakers for individuals with disabilities. In this specific role, you'll be taking care of a young boy that loves Legos, cars, airplanes, and video games. He also loves outdoor activities such as biking and running. The family would love a respite provider who isn’t afraid to get moving with their child! The family has a membership to the Y and would love if respite would utilize the membership.  The family would like someone who is able to go with the flow, think quickly on their feet and someone who isn’t easily phased by challenging behaviors.

Qualifications:

Experience with challenging behaviors highly preferred; additional training provided as needed.

Interest in working with individuals with disabilities.
