Schedule:
Hours
30 total hours in late August and early September for training and new student welcome activities.
5-8 hours per week including some evenings.
Availability between 4:00pm and 8:00pm on Wednesdays for staff meeting.
Flexible scheduling based on academic availability and operational need.
Summer hours, November/Fall Break, Winter Break, and Spring Break hours not available.
Additional Schedule Notes
Additional hours required during late August and early September for training and new student welcome activities.

Position Summary/Job Duties:
Peer mentors support CRC by building meaningful mentoring relationships with residents and supporting the programmatic and outreach goals of the program. Mentoring will take place through formal and informal interactions that include providing guidance, information, academic and career development resources and support. Peer Mentors support CRC’s First-Year Seminar (ILS 138).
Support the students enrolled in the CRC Seminar though planned mentoring activities, both in class and outside class, as coordinated by the seminar instructor and the faculty director.
Lead small group and individual meetings with residents for support, community building, and progress assessment in transition to college.
Hold office hours to support student success in the CRC main office or Academic Engagement Center.
Support and staff CRC prospective student outreach efforts including giving tours, acting as a student ambassador, attending prospective student events and distributing materials.
Attend, support, and staff key CRC events as needed.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have participated in at least one high impact experience as a college student. High impact experiences include living in a learning community, participating in a FIG, being an undergraduate research scholar, study abroad, holding an internship on or off campus, working in a lab, and similar activities.
Candidates by start of employment must have completed 2 semesters of college post high school (summer school does not count as a semester).
Preference may be given to candidates who havelived in Chadbourne Residential College andhave taken the CRC Seminar (ILS 138), the Wisconsin Experience Seminar (COUN PSY 125), or a simial first-year seminar.
During pre-employment and employment, a student staff member must abide by the University Residence Halls Contract, the Student Housing Handbook and the University of Wisconsin System academic and non-academic policies and expectations.
All applicants must be currently enrolled and maintain enrollment through the employment period.
