Schedule:
20+ hours in late August and early September for training and new student welcome activities.
Average weekly workload is 2-4 hours, primarily evenings and weekends.
Required availability between 5:15pm and 7:15pm on Tuesdays to attend WISE seminar class.
Flexible scheduling based on academic availability and operational need.
Summer hours, November/Fall Break, Winter Break, and Spring Break hours not available.

Additional hours are required between late August-early September for training and new student welcome activities.
Move-In Date - August 24,2025 (if resident of University Housing)
Start Date - August 25, 2025
Fall Training Dates: August 25-September 3, 2025 (20-25 hours)
Note: Start date and training dates may change but will not be any earlier than the dates listed above.

Position Summary/Job Duties:
Peer Mentors support WISE by building meaningful mentoring relationships with residents and supporting the programmatic and outreach goals of the WISE residential learning community. Mentoring will take place through formal and informal interactions that include providing guidance, information, academic and career development resources and support.
Lead small group and individual meetings with residents for support, community building, and helping them with their transition to college.
Support and staff WISE events as needed.
Attend and facilitate small group discussions during the Fall WISE Seminars (must attend the first 4 seminars, there is some flexibility with attendance beyond that).
Support and staff WISE prospective student outreach efforts including acting as a student ambassador, attending prospective student events (panels and tours), and distributing materials.
Attend a bi-weekly staff meeting.
Qualifications:
Must have lived in the WISE Residential Learning Community.
By start of employment must have completed 2 semesters of college post high school (summer school does not count as a semester). Transfer students must submit transcripts from all current/previous institutions to reflect the completion of two semesters post high school.
During pre-employment and employment, a student staff member must abide by the University Residence Halls Contract, the Student Housing Handbook and the University of Wisconsin System academic and non-academic policies and expectations.
Must be able to attend training on the dates listed above in Additional Scheduling Notes.
