Anticipated Hours Per Week
5-15 hours during school year, 20 during training
Schedule:
5-15 hours per week on average depending on time of year, including some evening/weekend hours.
Working up to 20 hours/week during peak times such as semester opening.
Flexible scheduling based on academic availability and operational need. Evening and weekend hours will be expected.
Hours in late August and early September for training and new student welcome activities.
Summer hours, November/Fall Break, Winter Break, and Spring Break hours not available.

Fall Training Dates: August 18-19, 2025 with some work availability through the first day of classes

Position Summary/Job Duties:
Develop and implement activities and events aligned with the focus of the learning community.
Attend and actively manage learning community field trips and events as assigned. Events occur on a regular basis throughout the semester and require evening and weekend hours.
Manage a wide range of administrative tasks relating to all aspects of the learning community including student programming, recruitment, support of academic courses, campus collaboration and evaluation.
Demonstrate support for the learning community seminar; seek ways to integrate co-curricular activities and events with the seminar syllabus; may be expected to attend seminar on some occasions; promote the seminar to students.
Foster leadership among the residents by involving them in event planning and promoting campus leadership development opportunities. Mentor student leader positions as assigned. May lead student advisory panels.
Develop and disseminate communication materials including flyers, email, newsletters, and social media engagement.
Utilize a variety of software systems as needed for event planning, communication, and assessment. Must be willing to learn and use new software.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Leadership Team members and other faculty, academic staff, House Fellows and student staff in the community. Regular communication and collaboration are essential to the success of this role.
Participate in recruitment and outreach activities and events for prospective students. May independently lead regular tours of the learning community.
Meet weekly with supervisor and attend additional meetings as assigned in addition to office hours.
Track a variety of deadlines, projects, and administrative duties with minimal oversight.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Preference may be given to applicants who are current or former residents of the learning community; all students are encouraged to apply.
During pre-employment and employment, a student staff member must abide by the University Residence Halls Contract, the Student Housing Handbook and the University of Wisconsin System academic and non-academic policies and expectations.
All applicants must be currently enrolled and maintain enrollment through the employment period.
Priority given to applicants who can attend all training dates as above in Additional Scheduling Notes.
