Schedule:
Hours
20-30 total hours in late August and early September for training and new student welcome activities.
2-3 hours per week during the academic year including some evenings and weekends.
Flexible scheduling based on academic availability and operational need.
Summer hours, November/Fall Break, Winter Break, and Spring Break hours not available.

Position Summary/Job Duties:
Peer Mentors support the MLC by building meaningful mentoring relationships with residents and supporting the programmatic and outreach goals of the program. Mentoring will take place through formal and informal interactions that include providing guidance, information, academic and career development resources and support.
Mentor 2-3 residents in The MLC through individual and small group meetings on a weekly basis
Connect residents to each other and to resources on campus.
Report any resident concerns to appropriate Housing staff.
Participate in key MLC community events with residents. May also assist with some of the planning, logistics, and supervision of MLC events with advance notice.
Support and staff prospective student outreach efforts including giving tours, acting as a student ambassador, attending prospective student events and distributing materials.
Attend monthly peer mentor meetings for training and support in the role.
Other administrative duties including entering time and attendance information on a timely basis
Qualifications:
All applicants must be currently enrolled at UW-Madison and maintain enrollment through the employment period.
Preference given to students who have lived in The Multicultural Learning Community.
Preference given to students who have completed 2 semesters of college post high school. Summer school does not count as a semester.
During pre-employment and employment, a student staff member must abide by the University Residence Halls Contract, the Student Housing Handbook and the University of Wisconsin System academic and non-academic policies and expectations.
Must be able to attend training on the dates listed above in Additional Scheduling Notes.
