Schedule:
Hours
20+ hours total between August 19 -September 2 for training and new student welcome activities.
Average weekly workload is 3-6 hours, primarily evenings and weekends.
Flexible scheduling based on academic availability and operational need.
Summer hours not available (besides those during training).

Position Summary/Job Duties:
Peer Mentors support Spark by building meaningful mentoring relationships with residents and supporting the programmatic and outreach goals of the residential learning community. Mentoring will take place through formal and informal interactions that include providing guidance, information, academic and career development resources and support.
Lead small group and individual meetings with residents for support, community building, and helping them with their transition to college.
Support and staff events as needed.
Attend and facilitate small group discussions during the Fall Seminars
Support and staff prospective student outreach efforts including acting as a student ambassador, attending prospective student events (panels and tours), and distributing materials.
Attend regular staff meetings and supervisory meetings.
Qualifications:
Preference to students who have lived in Spark learning community.
Preference to students in the College of Letters and Science
All applicants must be currently enrolled at UW-Madison and maintain enrollment through the employment period.
At the time of start date, applicant must have completed 2 semesters of on-site college attendance, post high school. Summer school does not count as a semester.
During pre-employment and employment, a student staff member must abide by the University Residence Halls Contract, the Student Housing Handbook and the University of Wisconsin System academic and non-academic policies and expectations.
Must be able to attend training on the dates listed above in Additional Scheduling Notes.
