Mission Respite connects caring individuals with incredible kids to provide non-medical respite for families with a child with special needs. We provide respite care for families across Dane County.

Mission Respite is looking for dependable, compassionate individuals who want a flexible, rewarding job making a meaningful difference in the life of a child with special needs.
As a Respite Companion , you’ll be matched with one of our Incredible Kids based on shared interests, personality, location, and availability. You’ll spend time together at home or out in the community doing things you both enjoy—all while giving their parent or primary caregiver a much-needed break from the demands of caregiving.
This isn’t just a job. It’s an opportunity to become someone an Incredible Kid looks forward to seeing.
What could your day look like?
Every match is different! You might spend your time:
Getting outside and being active
Swimming or heading to the park
Baking or cooking together
Doing crafts or creative projects
Thrifting or exploring the community
Playing games
Reading or helping with learning activities
Simply hanging out and building a genuine friendship
No two Incredible Kids are the same, which is why we focus on finding the right match for you.
The Details
$18–$20/hour + weekly pay
8–25 hours per week
Part-time + flexible scheduling
Meaningful, non-medical respite care
** Reliable transportation is required!
