Qualifications:

• Current degree-seeking UW-Madison student
• Must be able to commit a minimum of two semester to the organization
• No resume required
• No experience required
• Capacity and willingness to take initiative

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

We are looking for people who possess a growth mindset--those who are interested in learning new skills, developing the skills they already have, and open to failure as well as success.

The list of characteristics below are nice to have as you apply for this position, but are not necessary. You will have the opportunity to develop them while you are at ALPs!
• Experience working with communities of color and folks with diverse backgrounds and abilities, to name a few, OR are motivated and committed to developing the facilitation skills to serve these communities.
• UW Madison student who is committed to improving our campus climate for historically marginalized communities.
• Willingness to work as a team and collaborate with others
• Interest in developing leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Interest in working with people and helping them
• Capacity and willingness to take initiative

Position Summary/Job Duties:

• Facilitate and lead inclusive teambuilding and community building workshops and high and low challenge course workshops.
• Share your creativity, innovation, perspective, and ideas to improve our programming to better serve the campus community.
• Facilitate reflective group discussions to promote learning.
• Manage risk throughout all activities.
• Learn technical ropes course skills (knot tying, belaying, etc.)

Physical Demands:

Ability to be outside for prolonged periods of time when facilitating on the challenge course.
