Department Overview:

The McFarland Youth Center is a community based organization committed to middle school aged youth, families and community by providing a safe recreational and educational environment. By incorporating adult supervised, youth oriented activities, the McFarland Youth Center promotes positive relationships by building and fostering developmental assets.

Qualifications:

-Experience with children or youth preferred
-Ability to work after school/evening hours
-Reliable Transportation to McFarland, Wisconsin
-Work Study Required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

-people skills
-basic computer skills
-basic writing and reading skills

Position Summary/Job Duties:

-Assist with the creation and implementation of structured and unstructured programming.
-Initiate activities during open center that foster opportunities for social emotional development.
-Use Restorative Justice to offer learning opportunities and guide youth choices.
-Assist with setup and tear down of activity equipment.
-Hang out with and mentor middle school youth.
-Use trauma informed care, restorative justice and compassion in interactions with youth.
-Assist with preparation of public relations mailings and fundraising efforts.
-Observe and implement our COVID-19 safety precautions and ensure the implementation among staff & youth.
-Assist staff with GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) and other programming groups.
-Other youth center tasks as time allows.

Physical Demands:

-None, ability to be active during activities, perform cleaning tasks, and lift 25lbs object above head, preferred.
