Position Summary/Job Duties:

The Office of Experiential Learning (OEL) is a newly created office in the DDEEA aimed to support student success in high-impact practices, including undergraduate research, internships and study abroad experiences. We seek a graduate student Project Assistant (PA) who is team-focused, student-centered, and outcome-oriented to work collaboratively with DDEEA staff, campus partners and alumni to offer transformative internship, undergraduate research, and study abroad opportunities.

This is a full year appointment (includes summer) and is potentially renewable annually for the right candidate. This position will work closely with an open, inclusive, and engaged community focused on student engagement and success in high-impact practices. We approach our work with high standards, a strong work ethic, diverse thoughts and experiences, and forward creativity as we strive to make a positive impact on UW-Madison students.

Responsibilities will include: (1) Develop, plan, implement, and evaluate programming for high-impact practices, including the DDEEA internship program, Global Scholars Scholarship, and Undergraduate Research opportunities. (2) Meet 1-on-1 to support DDEEA students who are currently seeking and/or are involved in high-impact practices. (3) Assist with communications to multiple stake-holders that focus on marketing or respond to work within our office. (4) design, re-structure and/or implement new processes for documenting and managing data within OEL.

This PA-ship provides a lot of variety to someone who likes to learn new things and enjoys multi-tasking. The role is also best suited for someone who has excellent interpersonal skills, enjoys working in a vibrant student-facing office, and is excited to develop new skills in career development and student advising/support. A candidate that has had previous experiences in undergraduate research, study abroad, and/or completed an internship will be prioritized.

The time commitment for this position is fairly flexible. In collaboration with OEL, a consistent in-person schedule of at least 10 hrs per week during Monday-Friday between 8am-6pm will be determined based on the availability of the PA. Most of the in-person hours will be dedicated to working 1-on-1 with students and staff to assist in programming and advising for high-impact practices. Very occasional evenings and/or weekend hours to support events may also be required and will be scheduled in advance. The remaining hours can be completed remotely and will consist of data entry, developing marketing tools, developing content for programming, and responding to various communications. This position will work very closely with the Career Development Coordinator for the DDEEA Internship program, our undergraduate communications intern, and the Director of OEL.
