Flexible scheduling; Hours range primarily between Monday through Friday between 4 - 9 pm with occasional weekends

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate or graduate student with passion for inclusive approaches to food, nutrition, and cooking
• Ability to attend in-person trainings, team meetings, and in-services
• First Aid, CPR, and AED certification or ability to attain it within the first 30 days of employment. These trainings are offered through Rec Well.
• Ideal candidates will have the potential to stay in role for at least 1-2 years.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Communication, facilitation, critical thinking, flexibility, and organization skills
• Experience or interest in developing, delivering, and evaluating education programs for a diverse range of groups, professionals, and community members.
• Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
• Customer service experience

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Be the first to facilitate programs at the Wolf Teaching Kitchen in the new Bakke Recreation & Wellbeing Center! We are seeking creative, compassionate, detail-oriented, and flexible people with a passion for the field of food and nutrition. This position assists in the facilitation and planning needs of the Wolf Teaching Kitchen, which includes programs such as cooking workshops, nutrition education experiences, and other food events. This position works in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Nutrition Education and other Teaching Kitchen Instructors to support nutrition services, events, and programs.
Teaching Kitchen Instructors will:
• Facilitate events and programs in the Wolf Teaching Kitchen including preparation of supplies and food, and clean-up
• Assist in development of cooking workshops and nutrition education experiences including recipe selection, cost evaluation, and evidenced-based educational components.
• Assist in teaching kitchen operations including, but not limited to, outreach, inventory management, ordering, and scheduling
• Engage program attendees during workshops and events
• Consider diverse backgrounds related to food and culture
• Follow all food safety, general safety, and food allergen guidelines
• Provide program feedback and improvement through evaluations and informal methods
• Advocate for programs run out of the Wolf Teaching Kitchen
• Commit to upholding the mission, vision, and values of Rec Well on and off-shift and commit to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Other duties as assigned
