Department Overview:
International Academic Programs (IAP), the central study abroad office on campus and a unit of the International Division, coordinates over 300 study abroad programs throughout the world. IAP works in close partnership with the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and the Wisconsin School of Business and in collaboration with the College of Engineering to administer programs geared specifically for their academic disciplines.
Anticipated Start Date:
Student staff must attend a paid orientation scheduled for Wednesday, August 20 - Friday, August 22, 2025 with regular shifts starting the following week.

Schedule:
This position will be scheduled based on student weekday availability between 8am - 4:30pm. Students work between 8 to 15 hours per week.

Qualifications:
Qualified applicants must be UW-Madison undergraduate, degree-seeking students who participated on a UW-Madison study abroad, domestic study away or international internship program.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Successful candidates will: 1. Demonstrate enthusiasm for their study abroad, domestic study away or international internship program experience 2. Have strong verbal and written communication skills, including public presentation skills 3. Have attention to detail and the ability to proofread, edit copy and update digital templates and calendars with accuracy 4. Effectively manage multiple responsibilities and make decisions independently 5. Demonstrate flexibility, punctuality, and reliable attendance 6. Have a willingness to learn new software and seek out resources 7. Display strong initiative when approaching projects and tasks 8. Work well as a team member or independently on assigned projects 9. Be willing to work large blocks of time (3-4 hours) at least 2-3 days Monday-Friday with flexibility to work occasional evening and weekend events. 10. Preferred, but not required: Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, or social media NOTE: This position does not satisfy academic internship requirements.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Study Abroad Engagement Interns: • Promote UW-Madison study abroad programs: Professionally represent study abroad at UW-Madison and accurately communicate resources to prospective study abroad participants including current UW-Madison students, their families and friends, and K-12 students. Give classroom presentations, promote and lead informational sessions, and staff resource tables at events across campus. Update and distribute flyers and prepare promotional mailings. Assist IAP staff with development of new marketing and outreach materials. • Provide administrative support for frontline reception space: Serve as the first point of contact (phone and walk-ins) for the IAP office by answering questions or directing to the appropriate resource. Manage email, collect and process application materials, take passport photos, and enter information in the study abroad database. • Work closely with study abroad staff on other duties as assigned: These projects may include working with professional staff to help create print, web, and social media content, manage the photo library, draft social media, develop specialized workshops, develop training material, represent study abroad at UW-Madison in interviews (radio, podcasts, print, video, returned student panels), and more! Engagement Interns typically work 10-15 hours per week, with minimum shifts lengths of 2 hours. Student staff will have a set in-office schedule each semester; outreach activities will be variable week-to-week and will include occasional evening and weekend events. Summer positions may offer up to 30 hours per week.
Physical Demands:
Some lifting of up to 25 lbs may be required for this position.
