Department Overview:
As one of the largest departments on campus, the Department of Mathematics includes 59 Faculty, 23 Academic Staff, 7 University Staff, and numerous temporary instructional staff. The Math Learning Center, housed within the Math Department, is dedicated to fostering academic success. We provide a supportive and inclusive environment for students seeking academic assistance with undergraduate mathematics courses.

-Current undergraduate student enrolled at UW-Madison -Desire to help students succeed in an equitable, collaborative environment -Outgoing personality who enjoys interacting with people and providing customer service -Be in good academic standing
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills -Enthusiastic, outgoing, welcoming demeanor -Strong organizational skills -Ability to prioritize and handle multiple requests/customers at the same time -Reliable and punctual -Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team -Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion working with the student body Please be aware this position is NOT a tutoring position. Candidates with customer service experience are highly desired. Position Summary/Job Duties:
An ideal candidate will be able to work 8-10 hours per week and have customer service experience. As a Math Learning Center Front Desk Staff member, you will serve as the first point of contact for everyone who enters the MLC. You will also oversee all Front Desk operations, which include: -Arriving on time for your scheduled shifts -Providing excellent customer service to all patrons of the Math Learning Center -Greeting and engaging everyone who enters the Math Learning Center -Fostering a welcoming and inclusive learning environment -Checking MLC staff in and out for their assigned shifts and supplying necessary materials -Ensuring students check in and check out at the self-service kiosk -Directing students to the most appropriate tutoring resources -Answering questions about the MLC -Ensuring the MLC and Front Desk reception area remain organized and tidy -Collaborating with other team members to ensure the smooth operation of the MLC -Following all policies and procedures as outlined in the Front Desk Staff Handbook -Attending occasional Front Desk Staff meetings and professional development throughout the semester
