Department Overview:

You will be joining the Churpek lab in the Wisconsin Institute of Medical Research. You will join a highly collaborative team of undergraduates, graduates, research staff, and faculty conducting research focusing on identifying inherited genetic factors that cause increased risk of cancer and bone marrow disorders, especially among understudied tumors and blood disorders. The lab aims to optimize early detection, treatment, and ultimately, the prevention of cancer and bone marrow disorders. Those with Federal Work Study encouraged to apply.

Schedule:

Any days Monday through Friday. The specific days are flexible, but should remain consistent week to week. A minimum of 90 minutes per shift is required, ideally between 7:00AM-6:00PM. Must be available to work during both the Summer and Fall of 2025.

Qualifications:

Preferably in a STEM major.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Comfortable with the prospect of working with rodents. Having any animal experience is preferred, but you will be trained on all responsibilities.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Primary responsibilities will involve mouse work, including general handling, weighing, dosing techniques, blood collection techniques, and necropsy. Additional responsibilities will include benchtop experiments, such as complete blood counts (CBC) and flow cytometry as time permits.
