Department Overview:
SMPH Informatics and Information Technology is a multidisciplinary team of data scientists, engineers, developers, and IT support staff that offers a variety of Informatics and IT services to SMPH departments and research staff. SMPH Cybersecurity is part of SMPH Informatics & Information Technology and provides cybersecurity services to all departments, centers, and institutes within SMPH. Services include cybersecurity risk assessments, contract review, vulnerability scans, regulatory compliance questions, audit questionnaires, network security, and incident response.

Schedule:
Scheduling is flexible but requires availability during normal business hours (8am-5pm) Monday through Friday. We are looking for a student hourly position to work between 12 and 25 hours per week.

Qualifications:
- Willingness to learn new skills - Customer service focus Preferred: - Pursuing a degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field - Entry-level cybersecurity certification - Awareness or understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices, such as threat analysis, risk management, and incident response
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
- Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data and identify patterns or anomalies - Problem-Solving: Effective problem-solving abilities to address and resolve security issues quickly. - Verbal Communication: Clear communication skills to explain security issues and solutions to non-technical stakeholders - Written Communication: Clear communication skills to create plain language documentation that can be easily understood - Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail to spot potential security issues and ensure thorough documentation of security measures - Continuous Learning: Commitment to staying updated with the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies - Planning and Organization: Ability to develop detailed project plans, set timelines, and organize resources to ensure security projects are completed efficiently
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Responsibilities may include: - Create policies, standards, and guidance documents - Learn about topics such as asset management, asset disposal, end of life, change management, etc. - Assist with the SMPH Recommended Tools List to understand elements of reducing risk and providing guidance to end users - Assist with cybersecurity awareness, such as education documentation, reporting on phishing click rates, and monthly awareness reminders. - Learn how to create documents that meet cybersecurity control frameworks, such as Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Plan, Business Impact Analysis, encryption procedures, incident response plan, risk management procedures, etc. - Assist with cybersecurity alert tickets to understand threat trajectories and the difference between an alert and an incident - Learn about agile methodology and project management - Reporting for cybersecurity outcome driven metrics and goals - Learn about outcome driven metrics and strategic planning - Assist with follow up on individual SMPH cloud accounts to ensure accounts are still needed - Learn about the risk management process and how to use a Governance, Risk, and Compliance tool for tracking risks within an organization - Complete access audits to learn about least privilege
