Department Overview:

The Wisconsin School of Business Multicultural Center is dedicated to fostering a welcoming environment where students from historically underrepresented backgrounds can thrive. Schedule:

All work will be conducted on-site, with scheduled hours including front desk shifts (if needed), designated office hours for project-based tasks, and occasional evening hours. Affinity Groups run on Tuesday and Wednesday from 5-6pm. The center is open 9am-9pm Monday-Wednesday, 9am-8pm Thursday, 9am-4pm Friday.

Qualifications:

•Must have completed a bachelor’s degree and be enrolled as a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin–Madison for the academic year.
•Must be in good standing with the University at the time of application, hire, and throughout the duration of employment.
•Excellent communication and customer service skills.
•Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
•Ability to lead and facilitate conversations with a wide variety of students.
•Ability to work in a flexible and dynamic environment.
•Must be available from 5–6 pm on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays to support Affinity Groups.
•Commitment to fostering student involvement and leadership, creating inclusive communities, and supporting student academic success.
•Motivation to learn and improve processes that strengthen the Center.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

•Knowledge of or interest in inclusion initiatives.
•Strong public speaking, facilitation, and presentation skills.
•Ability to engage effectively with others in a professional, approachable manner.
•Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written communication skills.
•Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively.
•Self-motivation, flexibility, and adaptability in a fast-paced event environment.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

•Develop and deliver engaging content for Affinity Groups to promote cultural awareness, professional development, and community-building.
•Provide logistical and administrative support for events, such as catering coordination, setup, and execution.
•Collaborate with team members to design and refine marketing materials that promote AG programing.
•Assist with daily upkeep to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
•Serve as a point of contact for either center operations (room reservations, center upkeep, and front desk) or the mentorship program.
•Support the training and development of undergraduate interns.
•Co-facilitate bi-weekly intern meetings and lead one-on-one check-ins with interns.
•Build and maintain connections with WSB offices and campus partners.
•Track and share data to inform stakeholders and the Center director.
•Keep the event calendar updated for planning and promotion purposes.
•Other duties as needed.

Physical Demands:

You will be asked to wipe down tables and move furniture around for event reservations or other needs.
