Department Overview:
The Division of Library, Archives and Museum collections acquires, preserves and provides access to documentary and artifactual evidence about the history of Wisconsin, the United States, and Canada. With over 4 million items, our genealogy and history collections are among the largest and most comprehensive in the world documenting North American history. The Society's Library and Archives is also the American History Library for the University of Wisconsin, an official depository for local, state and federal government publications, and the State Archives which preserves state and local government records of historical importance.

Schedule:
Every other Saturday, 10am-4pm Weekdays are negotiable and can flex based on class schedule. Candidate could ideally work Tuesdays 10am-5pm and Fridays 10am-2pm

Qualifications:
Current UW graduate student or advanced undergrad with a work-study award and an interest in historical research and public services.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
1. Excellent oral and written communication skills. 2. Ability to work effectively as a member of a functional team. 3. Attention to detail. 4. Knowledge of current office methods, equipment, practices and procedures including PC usage and familiarity with word processing and/or other software necessary to perform job duties. 5. Ability to multitask. 6. Ability to understand the customer’s needs and deliver services by focusing on the customer. 7. Ability to respond to customers and address customer complaints/problems in a timely, accurate, courteous, respective and friendly manner. 8. Ability to learn and use current reference databases for a diverse audience.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Assist the public with collections and services. Provide research on questions at the Library Reference Desk via email, telephone, and in person. Assist the Reference Librarians with clerical projects.
