Department Overview:

The Network for Development and Growth of Native Solidarity (NDGNS) UW intern will assist with day-to-day office operations while developing skills in program coordination, event coordination, and gaining experience working with Indigenous communities (urban and tribal) in a culturally appropriate and relevant manner. NDGNS UW hosts an orientation in the fall, career event in the spring, and collaborates on several campus visits throughout the year.

OEL Interns accepted into the program also have access to individualized mentorship, structured professional development workshops, and 1-on-1 career advising that will support their growth professionally and personally as they work in environments dedicated to supporting student success at UW-Madison.

May 15th, 2027 (with the possibility of renewal)

Minimum: 8 hrs/week Maximum: 10 hrs/week

Your detailed schedule is to be agreed upon with your supervisor depending on your academic schedule/programming needs.

Qualifications:

Preferred major: American Indian & Indigenous Studies

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Communication skills (written and verbal), experience with creating promotional materials, student facing material creation, experience with Canva and social media applications (Instagram, LinkedIn, Linktree)

Position Summary/Job Duties:

• Maintaining our Canvas page where we post frequent announcements about events and resources that are relevant to NDGNS UW and Indigenous scholars.
• Creation of promotional materials for students and campus partners
• Office administrative tasks that can vary throughout the year
• Assisting with office hours to keep our office open and available to students, which is an opportunity for the intern to also interact with our scholars directly.
