Department Overview:
The analytical lab at the Center for Dairy Research focuses on conducting testing on various dairy products, such as cheese and milk, to assist with research projects and trials.

Qualifications:
Complete UW Chemical Safety Training after hiring date, but prior to start of job. Additional GMP / SOP training will be required after hiring.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Ideal candidates will have experience with general chemistry laboratory techniques, including micropipettes, and a Food Science, Microbiology, or Engineering background. Individuals must be able to work safely and independently with equipment.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
1. Perform routine analysis on milk, whey, and cheese samples. This will include procurement of samples, preparation of samples, analysis of samples, and calculation of results. Work instructions and formal training will be provided. 2.Assist in Laboratory upkeep, maintenance, and dishware cleaning. 3.Filing of paperwork and documentation of laboratory results in an organized manner. 4.Comply with all safety and QC regulations, prioritize work without direct supervision, and maintain confidentiality. 5.This position provides an opportunity to explore what a career in a laboratory environment may be like. Students will participate in laboratory testing and data analysis for both internal and industry companies research projects. Advanced analytical methodology training opportunities are available during the summer hours, when more sustained attention can be given to that form of research.
