Department Overview:
The Student Success and Policy (SSP) Team within the Undergraduate Program of the Wisconsin School of Business works on academic policy and student interventions focused on fostering student excellence and retention. Through this work, the SSP team collaborates with the other program units to gain a wholistic understanding of a student’s experience including: academic advising, career coaching, international programs, admissions, and student life. This graduate student in this position will work on data projects related to these key areas to assess and understand the impact of different interventions.

This position is ideal for graduate students in any field who have experience working with data and a passion for applying statistical techniques to turn raw information into actionable insights.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Please discuss your experience with the qualifications in an attached cover letter: Required Qualifications: - Experience with a statistical programming language (R, Python, Stata) for data management and analysis - Coursework or applied experience in statistics, including regression analysis and statistical inference - Curiosity about data and an inquisitive mindset - Clear and effective written and verbal communication Preferred Qualifications: - Familiarity with a data visualization tool (Tableau, Power BI, QLIK, etc.) for custom reports and dashboards
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Open to a graduate student, the data analytics graduate intern will work closely with the Data and Policy Analyst for the Undergraduate Program within the Wisconsin School of Business. The undergraduate program serves ~3,700 students across 11 different majors and 5 certificates. Using data on this population of students, this position will assist with the development of presentations, reports, and statistical analyses of administrative operations. The analytics intern will: - 45% Pull, clean, and analyze data from campus data tools to answer staff questions, generate contact lists for staff needs, and prepare data for other projects - 30% Assist with the development of presentations/reports including data visualizations, technical writing, and statistical analysis - 15% Assist with survey design for program initiatives - 10% Become more familiar with concepts of statistical programming, querying, and analytics
