Department Overview:

Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) supports UW–Madison’s academic and research mission by maintaining campus buildings, utility systems, and infrastructure. The department ensures safe, reliable, and well-maintained facilities for students, staff, and faculty.

Flexible hours during regular business hours (Monday–Friday)

Qualifications:

- Attention to detail and ability to complete routine inspections
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good written communication for documentation and reporting

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Ability to follow step-by-step procedures
- Basic computer and mobile device skills for data entry
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and staff

Position Summary/Job Duties:

- Test and flush eyewash stations across campus according to established procedures
- Document inspection results accurately
- Report deficiencies or maintenance needs
- Assist maintenance staff with minor tasks such as light cleanup, organizing materials, and basic support activities

Physical Demands:

- Ability to walk between buildings
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and push 100 lbs
- Ability to access eyewash stations, including bending or reaching
