Qualifications:
We are looking for student operational help starting immediately. Expectations would be to commit to 10 - 20 hours per week throughout the academic year and 25 - 40 during the summer. Previous experience in a research or clinical setting is beneficial, but not required. Applicants should be familiar with Microsoft Office and open to learning other software tools. Must be comfortable working in laboratory environments that involve hazardous materials (including biological, chemical, and radioactive hazards), equipment, and controlled spaces while adhering to established safety protocols. Position Summary/Job Duties:
The Biospecimen Laboratory Assistant will assist with the operations of several biospecimen research facilities during weekday business hours. The person in this role will function as part of a team of professionals that supports translational research at the Carbone Cancer Center. Duties Include: -Data entry and sample tracking -Ordering and maintaining supply inventory -Research kit and sample pickup and distribution -General laboratory maintenance tasks -Option to learn basic sample processing techniques for a various downstream analyses The work will be based at University Hospital, with the option to perform some tasks at Eastpark Medical Center. This position will interact with protected health information (PHI) and will therefore be required to complete HIPAA training. The selected applicant will also be required to take chemical, biosafety, and radiation safety training.
Physical Demands:
This job requires standing or walking for extended periods, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, and comfort in a laboratory setting containing biological, chemical, and radioactive hazards.
