Department Overview:

Part of the law school, the State Democracy Research Initiative seeks to advance research and dialogue on state-level democracy, government institutions, and public law across the nation. By focusing on the states, which traditionally receive less attention than the federal government in legal circles, the Initiative serves as a much-needed resource for academics, courts, policymakers, advocates, and the public.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The State Democracy Research Initiative is seeking a detail-oriented student to assist with collecting data for the 50 Constitutions project (https://50constitutions.org/). The student will be tasked with transcribing the text of historical documents, data entry, collecting relevant statutory and other primary source supporting documents, confirming the accuracy of text converted from images, and documenting the source of election data. This position will require significant amounts of typing and applicants should be comfortable working independently.
