Department Overview:

MERIT Library provides library resources, instructional design, and technology support to the UW-Madison School of Education (SoE) and our community partners. Some of our campus partners include the Cooperative Children’s Book Center (CCBC), the Information School at UW-Madison, and the UW-Madison Libraries. Qualifications:

Must be a student currently pursuing a degree at UW-Madison.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, databases, spreadsheets)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Prior experience with records management, cataloging, or collections work is preferred, but often not required.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Work to maintain accurate records of library holdings through copy cataloging.
Input new acquisitions, withdrawals, and updates into the campus library management system.
Receive new books, print journals, and other media. Assist in unpacking, labeling, stamping, and preparing items for circulation.
Collaborate with library staff on special projects and programming.

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift/move boxes or materials up to 50 lbs
Ability to stand, bend, or perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
