Department Overview:
The Center for Precision Medicine (CPM) mission is to catalyze research, clinical, and educational activities in precision medicine to expand tools and data sources that enhance our ability to anticipate, diagnose, and manage disease across the lifespan. We have 37 faculty members that include basic science, computational, and translational research groups. We are in the Wisconsin Institute for Medical Research (WIMR) complex within the UW School of Medicine and Public Health.

Qualifications:
A currently enrolled UW–Madison undergraduate student in good standing between freshman and sophomore year with a major in the biological sciences and an interest in learning advanced technologies in precision medicine. All majors and fields of study are encouraged to apply; additional consideration given to individuals pursuing degrees in the biological sciences, or a STEM related field. • Enrolled in courses for Fall 2026 (current students) • Available to work most of the summer, June - August • Available to work Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm To ensure consideration for Summer 2026, submit your complete application by Monday, June 8th.

Position Summary/Job Duties:
Research Interns will develop technical and critical thinking skills in precision medicine research and gain experience with molecular biology techniques and various sequencing platforms. • Didactic learning through seminars with CPM faculty members and scientists. • Hands on training focusing on sequencing and molecular biology techniques • Matched to work on a project in one of our CPM faculty member labs
Physical Demands:
Requires use of a computer Near visual acuity - clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less
