Schedule:
|
The Digital Content Intern will work approximately 10–15 hours per week with a flexible schedule designed to accommodate academic commitments. Most work can be completed remotely and independently, with occasional in-person meetings, content shoots, or campus events as needed. Because this role supports the College of Letters & Science's digital communications and social media efforts, the intern should be responsive to email and able to manage occasional time-sensitive assignments. Successful candidates will be organized, dependable, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, creative environment. |

Qualifications:

Successful candidates will demonstrate:
• Strong knowledge of social media platforms, particularly Instagram, with familiarity with emerging platforms and trends
• A strong connection to campus life and student culture, with the ability to identify and share authentic stories and community-building moments
• An eye for visual storytelling and design, with experience creating engaging content that aligns with brand and visual identity guidelines
• Proficiency in Canva, CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, or similar photo and video editing tools
• Excellent written, visual, and interpersonal communication skills; with strong attention to detail
• The ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment |

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
|
Digital Media Intern responsibilities include:
• Creating and publishing engaging content for Instagram, including feed posts, Stories, and Reels that inform, inspire, and grow our audience
• Designing graphics and visual assets that align with UW–Madison brand standards and enhance digital storytelling efforts
• Capturing and editing photos and videos that showcase the people, experiences, and opportunities that make the College of Letters & Science unique
• Identifying social media trends and pitching creative content ideas that resonate with current and prospective students
• Supporting community engagement by interacting with followers and helping foster meaningful online conversations
• Assisting with social media analytics, reporting, and performance tracking to inform content strategy and decision-making
• Researching and identifying students, campus partners, and digital influencers who can help expand the reach and impact of strategic communications campaigns

The ideal L&S Multimedia Communications Intern is a creative, campus-connected storyteller who enjoys capturing meaningful moments and transforming them into engaging digital content. They have a positive attitude, strong attention to detail, and a keen understanding of what resonates with student audiences. They are comfortable creating short-form video content, designing compelling graphics, and bringing fresh ideas to the table. Most importantly, they are curious, collaborative, and excited to help tell the stories of the people, research, and experiences that make the College of Letters & Science unique.

Physical Demands:
|
This position involves light physical activity, including walking to various campus locations to capture photos and video, carrying lightweight equipment such as a camera, smartphone, or tripod, and attending occasional in-person meetings, events, or content shoots. The majority of work is performed remotely and involves extended periods of computer use for content creation, video editing, graphic design, writing, and social media management.
