Schedule:
This role will only work shifts at the Nicholas Recreation Center. Employees set preferences for hours they are available/prefer to work, and a schedule is created for the entirety of the academic semester. Students typically work 9-15 hours in a weekly, reoccurring schedule. Additional Scheduling Considerations: - Must be willing to work throughout all hours of facility operation including weekends and breaks as scheduled. - In this role you are required to work a home football shift during the fall semester. Mandatory Training Dates: - Monday, August 31 (9:00am- 3:00pm) - Tuesday, September 1 (1:00pm - 4:00pm)

Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled as a degree-seeking student in good academic standing at UW-Madison. - Must have First Aid, CPR, AED Certification or have the ability to attain it within the first 30 days of employment (Rec Well can provide these trainings to you if needed).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
- Communication, leadership, and organizational skills. - Ability to balance academic and job responsibilities. - Must be able to attend department-wide and program specific trainings.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Within the Division of Recreation & Wellbeing, Operations Attendants play an integral role in overseeing the daily operations of the Nicholas Recreation Center. Operations Attendants gain skills and experience pertaining to customer service, task management, problem solving, as well as effective and efficient communication. The following responsibilities listed below will be executed under the supervision of the Coordinator of Operations. In this role you will: - Practice and enforce all facility policies and procedures to ensure member safety and conduct. - Maintain, inventory, and clean all fitness and facility equipment and spaces in assigned area through regular detailing and inspection. - Collect, wash, and distribute towels. - Execute Group Fitness check in procedures. - Establish a rapport with members, guests, and other staff members to solve problems and respond to questions. - Complete regular walkthroughs of all areas to identify any facility or equipment malfunctions, safety hazards or improper departmental operations. - Respond to injuries and assist in immediate first aid and proper emergency procedures. - Ensure that the buildings and activity areas are opened and closed at designated times. - Assist other staff areas with the preparation and operation of their program area as needed. - Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Supervisor and/or Rec Well Manager.
Physical Demands:
- Pushing, pulling, and carrying equipment including, but not limited to tables, chairs, garbage cans, sports equipment, and weight equipment. - Frequent walking and moving around facilities.
