Department Overview:
The UWEBC is a pillar within the Office of Interdisciplinary Professional Programs (InterPro). The office seeks to fulfill the university’s commitment to the “Wisconsin Idea” by providing education and training to practicing professionals and organizations. Since 1998, UWEBC has provided peer-to-peer learning events to more than 80 leading companies enabling them to gain competitive advantages through the adoption of emerging information technologies and business best practices. The UWEBC provides student assistants with real-world, hands-on experience, published content for portfolios, and connections with nearly 90 Wisconsin companies. You are: - A University of Wisconsin-Madison undergraduate student. All majors and fields of study are encouraged to apply! - Enthusiastic - A good organizer and planner - Self-driven - Attentive to detail - Excited to learn new technologies and software You love to: - Write stories to celebrate accomplishments and highlight upcoming and past events - Come up with creative social media posts - Create graphics and video content - Find solutions to improve processes and workflows - Try new things and play with the latest AI tools - Help out wherever needed!
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
The following experience is preferred, but not required: - Email marketing programs (i.e., Eloqua) - Social media platforms (i.e., Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook) - Adobe Creative Suite (i.e., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere) - Microsoft Office Programs (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel) - Cloud-based document management tools (i.e., Box, Google Drive) - Internal messaging apps and web conferencing tools (i.e., Teams, Zoom) - Basic HTML knowledge
Position Summary/Job Duties:
The UWEBC seeks a qualified undergraduate student to assist in content development for collateral, email marketing, social media, websites, and presentations. This position will report to the InterPro Marketing Manager. The ideal applicant will have superb communications skills and intermediate experience in various software. Job duties include, but are not limited to: - Attending or viewing UWEBC events and writing professional articles and meeting summaries from them to be published on the website and distributed to member companies - Conducting interviews with members and staff and writing feature stories for our monthly newsletter - Drafting and sending invitation emails for our annual member-only events - Strategizing, designing compelling visuals, and publishing content to our social media channels regularly - Creating, editing, and formatting files in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - Editing and creating webpages in Wordpress - Assisting in the planning, promotion, and execution of the UWEBC annual conference - Supporting the Marketing Manager in other projects as assigned
