This laboratory is within the Department of Surgical Sciences in the School of Veterinary Medicine.

Schedule:
Over the Summer, a student is expected to work 32-40 hours over normal business hours (8am-4pm). In the Fall and Spring semester, hours are variable to align with class schedule

Qualifications:
Students should have a background in web design, biostatistics and computation, particularly with skills in Python and R programming. Experience with machine learning and deep learning techniques such as computer vision, as well as working with large-scale datasets, is desirable
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
A solid background in computer science, computational biology, or statistics is preferred
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Students will train with a bioinformatics scientist and a clinician scientist. In addition to building the new lab website, AI automated analysis of medical images, finite element model analysis of bones, and genomic prediction of client owned animals for disease of interest and associated programming are active areas of research in the laboratory. Duties may also include basic bioinformatics handling of large data sets.
Physical Demands:
This job may require some physical demands associated with working with client-owned animals. However, computer-based work is less demanding and roles that only require desk and computer work will be considered if needed.
